About

MISSION

My mission is to help bridge the gap between the so called ‘economically inactive’ and companies looking for data-driven solutions to creating effective workplace wellbeing strategies.

Whether chronically-ill, disabled or neurodiverse, we have found barriers impeding our success that those without any of these take for granted.

Our information and services bridge the gap between individuals and employers to break down those barriers, and show the incredible value we have to the economy and our own lives.

BEHIND THE EDGE

Meet the Founder

From “You’ll never work again” to leading the Chronic Edge as a diagnostic strategist and speaker, helping organisations uncover hidden monetary losses and unleash the edge over their work, company, and lives.

Hi I’m Elliot,

Life’s about the journey rather than the destination but I’m glad you’ve taken the time to stop by and check out what I can offer you through The Chronic Edge.

Whether you are an individual with a disability or chronic illness like me, or an employer/HR professional looking into how you can improve your DEI offer, workplace retention and productivity, or how to support your employees further, then I have lots to show you.

Before I became sick in the chronic sense I knew I was different, I just didn’t feel like I fitted in,, this impacted me through school and in the my first few years at work, there were things I don’t quite understand especially in social circumstances, and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t grasp maths but I LOVED numbers.  This pushed me into acting like a lone wolf, enjoying my own company, trying to find my pack

It wasn’t until I got into my late 20’s I was diagnosed with dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia (see our guides for more information on these) that I understood a little more, but still things didn’t feel right and that heavily impacted on my confidence, I could ‘see’ solutions to problems, or innovative ways to develop business but I couldn’t navigate the path to climb the ladder, and turning to alcohol to mask the screaming I felt in my mind.

It wasn’t until I turned 35 that things changed, I had just spent the past few years on anti-psychotics for a condition called Schtizotypal disorder, it was during this time I found out that I had a undiscovered genetic condition called Klienfelter’s Syndrome, that meant I didn’t produce testosterone like other men (which explained a Hell of a lot) and that the Schizotypal was in fact an Autistic burnout from the un-diagnosed Autism, a trait that often goes hand-in-hand with Klienfelter’s.

It wasn’t long after that the klienfelter’s led to infertility, tumours and a unilateral orchiectomy, the information coming all within the same month of marriage breakup, and finding myself on my Mother’s sofa for almost 18 months trying to rebuild a life where I never truly felt alive.

My goal was to get back to work, and after some time I achieved it, I started working with the NHS creating a project that supported community organisations during the pandemic, raising over £7M in funding opportunities and more support in less than 12 months, this led to being head-hunted by our local Integrated Care Board (NHS) in Digital and Personalised Care, during this role I was given the opportunity to create an innovated community project that had a Social Return on Investment of over £4,2M for less than £50K, with some of those projects still running today, helping thousands of people access support, and those by far are my greatest achievements. Not only that but I also got remarried and lost about 4-stone. I thought I’d finally found my place, my pack, the NHS.

But still something wasn’t right, I still felt there was more I could do, and so The Chronic Edge was born, at first it was a lifestyle blog posting about things like elastic belts are great for stomachs that like to change sizes throughout the day, or the benefits of trial and error with foods, all the things that got me back to work, but it didn’t feel right, this caused me to fall back into the support act again for others with a vision and more heartbreak when it came to wanting more, resulting in that loss of confidence again and feeling of being a burden to my family.

A chance encounter changed things, it helped me on the path to who I am, who I wanted to be, and how in my own unique way I could help others like me but also bridge that gap between us and companies through data, mindset, and knowledge that our illness is not a burden but that we can the best investment a company can make in the long-term, dispelling those myths and providing real solutions to improving productivity and profitability.

I’ve found my calling, I’ve always been at the back pushing others forward but always found myself left behind, but now I know why.

Wolves don’t lead from the front, they guide the pack forward from the back from a place of care, love and unity, so when you find yourself living on the edge, the only way you can go is to push forward from the back and lead your pack into success.

It doesn’t matter where you are right now in your life or in business, let me help you get on the right path to your success today, and unleash the edge in YOU!
